- The Crusades were a series of Holy Wars by the Christian states of Europe against the Saracens. The term "Saracen" was the word used to describe a Moslem during the time of the Crusades. The Crusades started in 1095 when Pope Claremont preached the First Crusade at the Council of Claremont. The Crusades were great military expeditions undertaken by the Christian nations of Europe for the purpose of rescuing the holy places of Palestine from the hands of the Mohammedans. The fighting in Spain was simply a Holy War at this time. It did play an important part in the origins of the crusade.

CATALONIA- Before the northward advance of the Moslem forces had run its full cruse at least one center of Christian resistance had made in appearance at the nothern edge of the Hispanic peninsula. By the middle of the ninth century the princes of Asturias-Leon had extended their holdings southward across the Cantabrian mountains for a distance of some sixty miles from the as of the Bay of Biscay. On the eastern coast of the peninsula, to the immediate south of the eastern Pyrinees, lay the Catalan countries of the Spanyish March, Barcelona Chief among them.

How do they react in the story? For example, the story between the policeman and the girl, in their first meet, the police is very strict and he touch the girl and the girl is very angry and she don't want to see him again. But then there's the crash, she is driving when she has an accident and the car burn. Then the polices arrived at the place and is this police who saves her. Then they change completely their minds.

Choose one character in the story.
Describe the story using past tenses and expressions: past simple, past continuous, present perfect.

We talk about the story of the blond police, called Tom Hansen. He first works with the other police, but when he touches the girl he wants to work alone because he is a good person and he doesn't like the behaviour of his partner. So he decides to stop working with him and he works alone. One day when he's working he has to stop a car because he is driving at a full speed, but when the man comes out of the car he sees that he is the black man of the other night with his partner. Hansen tells the fellow officers to leave him with a "harsh warning", as he has no prior history of breaking the law. Cameron drops off Anthony at a sidewalk, gives him back the gun, and tells him that he embarrasses him.
In the end there is Tom Hansen in his car with his friend and the friend puts his hand behind his trousers. the police thinks that he has a gun, so he immediately takes his gun out and shoots him in the head. The black man dies at the moment and then the policeman sees that his friend didn't didn't have any gun. He was only taking out a small figure of Saint Cristobal. Then the police goes away and leave his friend on the road. So he wasn't that good.

Cause I’ve been blasting and laughing so long that even

A man that didn’t deserve it.
Me be treated like a punk, you never unheard of
You better watch how you’re talking and where you’re walking
Or you and your homies might lined the chalked

I really hate the trip but I gotta loc
As the croak I see myself in the pistol smoke
Fool! I’m the kinda g that little homies wanna be like
All my knees in the night
Saying prayers in the street light..

( chorus )
Been spending most of our lives living in the gangsta’s paradise (x2)
Keep spending most of our lives living in the gangsta’s paradise (x2)

Look at the situation, they got me facing
I can never live a normal life, I was raised by the stripes
So I gotta be down with the hood team
Too much television watching got me chasing dreams
I’m a educated fool with money on my mind
Got my tin in my hand and a gleam in my eye
I’m a loc’d gangsta set trippin banger
And my homies is down so don’t arouse my anger
Fool! death ain’t nothing but a heartbeat away
I’m living life, do or die what can I say
I’m twenty-three now , will I ever see twenty-four
The way things are going I don’t know

Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the ones we hurt are you and me
( chorus )

Power in the money , money in the power
Minute after minute, hour after hour
Everybodys running but half ain’t looking
What’s going on in the kitchen but don’t know what’s cookin’
They say I gotta learn but nobody’s here to teach me
I guess they can’t , I guess they won’t , I guess they fornt

PART 4: WRITING:GIVING YOUR OPINION
30% students in Catalonia don't get ESO Certificate.
Is our educational system being effective enough? Well, I think that the schools should be harder.
Are students working hard enough? Yes, but not enough, because there are students which work very hard and strive. But there are students who don't do the homework, don't listen in class, don't do the exams they do nothing.
Are parents helping in the educational process? Yes, they should do that.
What's the average in your class? I don't know. I think a 6 or 7
Where's the problem? have you got any suggestions? In my opinion the problem is that the students aren't motivated and they don't like going to school and learn.

I think the students in Catalonia who don't get ESO certificate won't do well in the future, because you need good qualifications to get a good job.
In my class, for example, there are students who don't work enough, they don't do homework, don't listen in class, don't get good marks in the exams... but there are also students who work hard and study a lot to have a good future. I think the parents help in the educational process. In my class there are people who have good and bad marks. I think the average is between 6 and 7 marks out of ten. In my opinion the problem is that students aren't motivated enough and they don't like going to school to learn.

Shakespeare in love

1.-What do you know about Shakespeare?

In Shakespeare’s time there were no female actors. The role of women had to be played by young boys who had not gone through puberty.
The plays of this period of time were very last minute. Some actors received their lines just before the play.
They used a technique called “cue acting”. This was when someone sat behind the curtains and whispered the lines to the actors.

2.-The theater at Shakespeare:

The Theatre attracted many different types of audiences. The spectators had a range of seating options available. They could choose to pay the cheapest ticket and be a “stands”.
At the Theatre, it is believed that two plays were done every day, and that both of them were done in the afternoon. They were not done earlier because the sun was too bright. It was not done at night because there was no artificial lighting. This is why the plays were done during the afternoon.

3.-Romeo and Juliet. Plot Summary

This work has as its main theme the love of two teenagers, Romeo and Juliet, who are conditioned by the enmity that maintain their families. The storyline unfolds with the disadvantages that have the two young men to meet, to love and be together.
